Repeatedly, I see women being told to “just be more confident,” “just work harder,” or “the barriers are gone, just go for it!” in regards to working up the corporate ladder. While I’m sure all this encouragement is well-meaning, it’s not terribly helpful. And at the same time, I hear well-qualified women saying:
